Isaiah Burkhart

Raised on the high open air of Central Oregon and the Bitteroots of Montana had a major influence on my infatuation with all things mountain. Leadership experience in the Special Operations community combined with a desire for adventure has born plenty of "type II" fun and projects along the way. The Long Approach to Nowhere represents the cyclical balance of 99 percent of adventures. Although there are exceptions, most adventures eventually end in the same location as their beginning. The long approach to nowhere is more about the journey than where you may end up at the end of your climb, ski, or walk around the neighborhood.

We don’t live to eat and make money. We eat and make money to be able to enjoy life. That is what life means, and that is what life is for.
— George Mallory

Along with my close friends, I would consider myself a storyteller. My goal with this site is to share my story. Adventure is the focus, but you will see a vast variety of subjects that cover leadership, team building, branding, time management, biology, the gear I love and use, as well as the occasional story from the military. My hope is to inspire others to find a balance of adventure, family/friendship, and self-fulfillment on the long approach to nowhere.
